Moonrise

I took this photo this past summer. Not sure when as my camera's date reset at some point and so I have a few folders that are messed up. This is the view I see from where I am sitting now, facing west southwest. Of course it is of the moon heading towards setting, not rising but the reason for the title is next :). I just like posts with photos.

Anyway, last night I got home late from work and with the hour change in time it was dark. I had to feed my horses by tripping around in the dark because the moon wasn't up yet. I looked it up today and she didn't rise until after 9pm. I know while I was working (I do a mail route) she was in the sky late in the day.

After all the animals were settled the dogs and cats and I took a walk to the end of our dirt road. The stars were everywhere and I looked for meteorites which are to be falling around the time of the new moon. I didn't see any. I vowed to make it out in the dark more often. Sometimes that is the most magickal time of day be it early in the morning or later at night.

  1. As the moon makes it's way from full to new, it rises later in the evening each day. By now (last quarter) it will be rising closer to midnight each night, and setting around noon.

I love seeing the moon in the West in the mornings when I go for a walk!

I must remember to look for the meteors too!
